Scientific interests:

  • Qualitative, analytical, semi-analytical and numerical methods used to solve a variety of theoretical models.
  • The transfer-matrix method for the calculation of the transmission spectrum and field distribution in a heterogeneous medium. The generalization to the case of a strongly nonlinear media, taking into account bistability by predictor-corrector algorithm, an analytical solution for the nonlinear film [Chen W., Mills D.L., PRL, 58, 1987]. Generalization to the case of anisotropic media - methods of Berreman and Jones.
  • The temporal and spatial coupled-mode theory (CMT). The generalization to the multidimensional case - the Pendry method, scattering matrix method. Rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA). Finite difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Finite element method (FEM).
  • Photonic crystal dispersion equations. The band structure of a two-dimensional photonic crystal - plane wave expansion method, its modification to account for resonant media [Belikov A.V., Bogdanovа M.V., Lozovik Yu.E. Mathematical modeling. 19, 19, 2007]. Pancharatnam-Berry geometric phase. Chirality. Bound states in the continuum. Topological photonics.
  • The three-dimensional Fourier transform to construct the diffraction reflections of quasiperiodic lattices.
  • The method of characteristics and rigid Adams scheme for evolutionary system of Maxwell-Bloch equations, density matrix method.
  • Soft matter optics, mechanics and hydrodynamics. The variation of the free energy and Frank moments in the elastic continuum theory of liquid crystals.
  • Poincare sphere. The construction of phase and configurational trajectories of the system on the sphere and hypersphere in stereographic projection.
